|
November 18 is African Statistics Day. This day was adopted
in May 1990 by the twenty-fifth Session of the United Nations Economic Commission
for Africa and the Sixteenth Meeting of African Ministers responsible for Economic
Planning and Development to be celebrated each year in order to “increase public
awareness about the important role which statistics play in all aspects of social
and economic life” of our countries and the continent.

National Page Project |
Seychelles launches its
National Summary Data Page (NSDP) and Advance
Release Calendar (ARC). The NSDP consists of dissemination of summary
statistics pertaining to the Real, Fiscal, Financial, External and Socio-Demographic
Sectors.
The NSDP and ARC are first two phases under the National Page (NP) project. The
third step required to fully implement this project is to have Seychelles metadata
posted on and directly accesible from the NSB website. At present the metadata is
posted on the IMF's Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board (DSBB) which can be accessed
from a link on the NSDP.
The success of this project has been through the collaborative work of officials
from the Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS), the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the
National Statistics Bureau (NSB) which are the key agencies responsible for compiling
these statistics, and also through Technical Assistance (TA) received from the IMF
through its Consultant Dr Michel Dessart, who was on mission in Seychelles during
period 15th - 28th April 2008.
