Visitors’ statistics are obtained from Immigration cards completed by all travelers
and they are analysed in accordance with World Tourism Organisation recommendations.
Visitors are classified according to their country of residence rather than their
nationality. The purpose of visit and average length of stay are also collected.
Hotel statistics are obtained from information provided by licensed accommodation
establishments (hotels, guesthouses and self-catering apartments) on the number
of rooms and beds available, and occupied.
In addition to the above, quarterly visitors survey are carried out at the point
of departure (Seychelles international airport). From this survey other important
indicators are derived such as multi-destination holidays, return visits, level
of enjoyment, place of stay and islands visited.
Visitors’ statistics are published weekly, monthly and annually whilst the visitors
survey report is an annual publication.
Tourism earnings are obtained quarterly from figures made available by the Central
Bank of Seychelles.
