|
The national accounts unit compiles the macroeconomic statistics pertaining to national
accounts, of which the most important and often referred to economic indicator is
the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
In early 2007, a project
was undertaken by the NSB to substantially update and improve the compilation of
the national accounts to bring it in line with international standards and move
on to the adoption of the UN “System of National Accounts, 1993 “ (SNA93. ).
Part of
the project also focused on classification of economic activities using the UN “International
Standard Industrial Classification” (ISIC) Rev4.
The first
results from this redevelopment are published in the Statistical Bulletin which
can be downloaded from here. It should be
noted that the figures for 2004 - 2006 supersede previously published estimates
which were compiled using the old system.
The main data
published are:
- GDP using the production approach in both current and constant
2006 prices
- GDP by expenditure in current prices
- Tourism contribution to GDP
